Glaser’s Collision Centers and GEICO Insurance teamed up through National Auto Body Council Recycled Rides® program to donate a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country Minivan to Cedar Lake to help with additional transportation options for the adults they serve.

Glaser’s Collision Centers and GEICO have a history of donating vehicles to those in need and this time they wanted to donate to Cedar Lake. There is a special connection for Susan Glaser because her cousin benefits from the fantastic services provided by Cedar Lake.

For over 52 years, Cedar Lake has provided compassionate, capable care to some of society’s most vulnerable citizens – adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Kentucky’s largest private provider of residential and community-based services to adults with IDD, services include community-based housing, intermediate care facilities, job preparation and placement and independent living skills classes. The transportation program is extensive as it transports hundreds of individuals to jobs, day programs, medical appointments, and community activities such as bowling, basketball games and eating out at local restaurants. Adding the minivan to their fleet of vehicles allows more options for transportation to places for the adults to connect with the community.

“With 24,960 one-way trips in a calendar year, our fleet of vehicles gets a lot of wear and tear!  Our transportation services are essential to ensure all those in our care stay active and connected to the community. The additional vehicle is a tremendous blessing for us.” said Kathey G. Sanders, Executive Director, Cedar Lake Foundation.

The minivan was donated by GEICO and refurbished by Glaser’s Collision Centers through the NABC Recycled Rides® program.  Additionally, Enterprise Rent-a-Car helped make the day special by presenting a donation to help with car expenses and 1.800 Charity Cars handled the titling. Digital EFX donated graphics for the van and Gipe Auto Color  provided gas cards.

“It’s a special day when you can help an organization that provides support to so many individuals and families,” stated Aaron Glaser, COO of Glaser’s Collision Centers. “We know Cedar Lake will put the minivan to good use.”
