What do I do
after the accident?
Notify police immediately.
Do NOT admit liability, and do not
discuss your accident with anyone except the police and your insurance company.
Write down the names, addresses and
license numbers of persons involved along with any witnesses.
Report the accident to your insurance
company as soon as possible.
Contact the shop of your choice and
have them tow the vehicle to the shop if it is undrivable.
The collision center will assist you
with your insurance claim.
What do I need to know before having my vehicle
repaired?
- Never drive a car that could be unsafe because of damages.
- You are not required by law to obtain
multiple estimates.
- Your vehicle is one of your largest
investments. Have it repaired properly by professionals.
- A professional shop will explain the
entire repair process.
- Read and understand your insurance
policy. Ask your agent to explain your coverage.
- You have the right to take your vehicle
to the shop of your choice. Your insurance company cannot require you to go to a
particular shop.
- Differences in repair estimates are
common. A lower estimate may not include all the necessary parts and repairs. Ask why the
estimates are different.

repaired at the shop of your choice.

insurance company to pay a reasonable cost to restore your vehicle to pre-accident
condition.

I choose a repair facility?
Referals from family and friends are a
good source of information.
Look for certificates of continuing
technician education and certification such as I-CAR and ASE.

Look for friendly, professional and
educated staff members.

invoice of the repairs?
